About

I’m a poet. I’ve twice won the Poetry Business pamphlet competition (1991 and 1999), and took first prize in the 2002 Ledbury, 2008 Arvon, and 2010 TLS and Ver Poets competitions. I’ve published pamphlets with Smith/Doorstop and HappenStance among others, and my first full poetry collection Counting Eggs was published by Mulfran Press in April 2012.

In 2009 I held a Hawthornden Fellowship during which I began translating the Russian poet Vladislav Khodasevich (1886-1939): a book of my translations is due from Angel Books in 2013.

During the winter of 2011/12 I was Queer Writer in Residence at London Metropolitan Archives, which resulted in the long, filthy and historically accurate “Ballad of Captain Rigby” who was prosecuted for attempted sodomy in 1698.

My website is http://www.peterdaniels.org.uk and you can find me on Facebook too.
